A Berkshire St Patty’s Day

As St. Patrick’s Day is just about upon us I feel compelled to share my favorite place to spend St. Pat’s-Murphy’s Pub!  This tradition was started several years ago when we partnered with the super talented Julie Hammill of Hammill Design to create a thirtieth birthday for her husband, an avid Irishman.  We started with a restored barn and created a charming pub for friends and family to enjoy.  Some of my favorite touches include using maps of Ireland to cover the bar, a chalkboard menu of what’s on tap, rootbeers in an old sink, centerpieces full of Irish trivia, custom coasters and as the piece de resistance Julie had a sign painted to hang outside the “establishment.” The following year came around and the Hammills figured they had the sign, might as well hang it up outside their house for the night and thus began an annual tradition.  Each year we are treated to a new invite and I eagerly await its arrival to see what design Julie has cooked up.  Wishing you the Luck o’ the Irish all year!

What a great idea! That sounds like such a fun tradition with friends. I told my friend who is hosting a gathering on St. Patty’s day and after reading your blog, she is using some of these great ideas at her place. Thanks for the inspiration!
